New Product Launch – Permaconn Video Verification

August 2021 / New Product

Image

Permaconn is pleased to announce the launch of the Permaconn Video Verification service.

When a monitoring centre operator receives an event from an alarm system, the Video Verification service provides them with a 30-second video clip of the event occurring. This provides the operator much more information and greater situational awareness and is able to make better decisions about an appropriate response. Using a number of unique and patented innovations, Permaconn’s Video Verification service delivered using existing Permaconn infrastructure and does not require any additional software on site or in the monitoring centre.

This service reduces the costs of guard call-outs to nuisance alarms triggered such as those triggered by dogs, wind, ibis birds etc. When an alarm is triggered by intruders, Video Verification also provides improved safety by providing guards with insight into the number and nature of the intruders.

We need to talk about 3G – Permaconn is here to help

May 2021 / News
Image

3G mobile networks are being retired. This has already started with some radio frequencies (“spectrum” as it is called) being reallocated away from 3G services to newer 4G and 5G technologies.

What this means for all of us in the security industry is that 3G communications devices have started to experience reduced coverage and performance, which will continue over the next few years before they stop working altogether.

Telstra has already reduced 3G coverage by re-allocating their 850Mhz frequency and they have announced the remaining frequency (2100MHz) will be reallocated in mid-2024. Optus have announced they will shortly start reallocating frequencies away from 3G (see below for links to these announcements).
